Insulator

Overview#

Electrical insulators are materials with high electrical resistance, or ones that prevent electric current to flow through them. We use insulators to create our circuits by sealing and protecting conductors which are used to connect components together. PCBs need both conductors and insulators in order to function correctly. Conductors provide the path for current to flow through while insulators prevent current from flowing where we do not want it to be.

Common Insulators#

  • Rubber
  • Plastic
  • Paper
