Schematic

A schematic is a diagram that shows all of the electrical connections between the components in a circuit. Schematics use mostly standardized symbols for each component and often follow the conventions of the engineer who designed the circuit.

Unlike a PCB layout, the schematic does not indicate where each component must be placed on a PCB. Rather, it indicates what and how components need to be electrically connected.
